The purpose of this student survey is to assess student learning due to their participation in the water festival unit (the pre- and post-festival lessons, and the festival itself). Teachers should administer the questionnaire before the introductory Anchoring Phenomenon demonstration and again after completing the last lesson. Please facilitate reading the questions with your students if you feel the vocabulary or reading may be challenging for them.
Prior to the water festival unit, please tell students that this is not a test, and they may or may not know the answers. Less than half an hour is needed to complete the questionnaire. Please administer the post-festival survey no more than four weeks after the Water Festival.
2026-27 Student Survey Instructions:
This year, we have refined our learning objectives and aligned the survey questions more closely with the key understandings we hope students will gain from the Water Festival Program. This approach is especially important given that many teachers across the state do not have the opportunity to complete the accompanying Unit of Study with their students.
In our new format, we are asking teachers to do the survey as a class and record the number of students who choose each of the three options: 1. I agree, 2. I disagree, 3. I don't know. We are hoping that this format will be more user-friendly, save time spent on the survey and get us more direct useful pre to post data.
Please use the following document to record your student's responses before and after participating in the Water Festival Program and then transfer the results to the survey linked below.
