Arizona Project WET instructors connect 4th grade teachers with:
  • Real-world water & STEM learning
  • Inquiry, systems thinking & problem solving
  • 3-Dimensional learning aligned to state standards
  • Practical classroom resources & support
  • Local–focused applications
  • Foundation for the AWF Unit of Study

Objective: 

Provide 4th grade teachers participating in the AWF program with online workshop modules that:
  • Prepare teachers to effectively use the AWF Unit and prepare students for the Water Festival field day.
  • Build enthusiasm for teaching science by demonstrating engaging, hands-on strategies that support Arizona state standards.
  • Inspire water stewardship by equipping teachers to promote water conservation and explore sustainability solutions with their students.

  • Complete, at your convenience, the 6 interactive online learning modules covering the six lessons that make up the AWF unit of study.

      • These short but interactive modules introduce you to the AWF Unit lessons/activities and provide you with a deeper understanding of the subject matter, allowing you to feel more confident and excited to teach hands-on science with your students. 

3. Completion:

  • Arizona Project WET team members can track your progress and can provide you with a certificate for continuing education (CE) credit hours if you complete all modules. 

4. Engage:

  • Conduct the pre student survey before starting the unit, and submit results here  
  • Lead the first 3 in-class hands-on lessons before attending the water festival event (lessons 1-3)
  • Have students do photo release form and attend your water festival field-day event

5. Reinforcement:

  • Lead the last 3 in-class hands-on lessons after the water festival event (lessons 4-6) 
  • Conduct post student survey and submit results here
