High school students gain leadership experience, deeper water knowledge, professional connections, and exposure to water-related careers across Arizona.
Objective:
A multi-touchpoint training experience that builds the knowledge, skills and confidence students need to become effective Volunteer Educators at a Water Festival.
1. Introduction:
Register to participate in your local water festival.

Complete the Pre-Student Survey.

As a class, watch the Volunteer Intro Video.
2. Explore:
Complete 4 interactive online learning modules covering the four foundational water topics covered at the water festival:

Water Cycle 101 | Watersheds 101 | Groundwater 101 | Sustainability 101
- If possible, please try to complete this before we come for the in-person training, or at the latest, before the water festival event.
- These short but interactive modules give you a strong foundation and deeper understanding of the subject matter, allowing you to ask better questions of our team and to feel more confident when presenting to the 4th graders.

3. Train:
Arizona Project WET team members come to your school to do in-person training.
- During the in-person training, you will put your knowledge into practice through hands-on training, gaining the skills and confidence you need to lead fourth-grade students through their festival activities.
- At the conclusion of this training, you will choose or be assigned a specific activity to lead on the day of the event.

4. Prepare:
Complete your activity-specific online training modules.

- This is the last online training module and you only need to watch the video that is specific to the activity that you have been assigned and that you will lead at the water festival.
- This provides you with a final opportunity to refresh your topic knowledge, review your activity, and build confidence before stepping into your role.

5. Engage:
Lead hands-on educational activities with 4th-grade students and have tons of fun at your local Water Festival event.
6. Reflect:
Complete the Post-Student Survey.

Receive an Arizona Project WET Volunteer Certificate reflecting all hours spent participating in the water festival program (online/in-person training and day of festival event). This is why you had to sign in and why we tracked if you completed each training video.
- These hours look great on your resume, or when applying to college and help you complete community volunteer hours.
